All membership applications are treated equally and are processed in the order received. Applications normally take one to two weeks to process. Within one week of processing, you should receive a notice of pending membership status. Then, your name is published in the next available issue of the official magazine of ALOA, Keynotes, for review by the membership.
Upon final clearance (approximately 90-120 days after an applicant's “pending” status), you will receive a welcome packet that includes a permanent membership card and certificate. At that time, you can log into the members-only section of ALOA.org and fill out the locksmith search form to be listed on FindAlocksmith.com.
Once you’ve become a member, be sure the ALOA logo is displayed on the window of your business, service vehicles, company website and business literature.
It may take four to six weeks to process membership renewals, especially at the beginning of the calendar year. Be assured that your membership status is not affected in any way.
If you selected the Go Green membership option (digital only), then you must print your certificate, membership card and renewal letter from the website at www.aloamembers.org.
ALOA dues bills go out in late October. Members who do not renew their membership are dropped from Findalocksmith.com at the end of the first quarter of the calendar year. At that time, the member is no longer considered an “active" member. If you want to retain your current status and are just delayed in renewing on schedule, contact the office and let us know if you're having financial difficulties. We'll work with you to keep you on the active membership roster if possible.
All milestone anniversary year pins are no longer automatically mailed out. If you are celebrating a milestone year, such as 10, 20, 25, etc., please contact ALOA by email at membership@aloa.org and request a pin at no charge.
Alternatively, you may visit the ALOA Store at the annual ALOA Convention and Security Expo and request a pin at no charge. The first pin is free for each member, and additional pins are available for purchase. We hope you’ll wear your pin with pride!
ALOA has partnered with LIG, which may assist you in finding available coverage. ALOA does not offer a health plan directly for its members because we would have to comply with insurance laws and regulations in each state. Members will be notified if legislation passes that will allow ALOA to offer coverage directly.
Any person who has withdrawn from the security industry, held an active membership with ALOA for fifteen years or more and is at least 62 years of age qualifies for retired membership status. Also, if at any point an active member becomes disabled and can no longer work, he or she may qualify for retired status regardless of age or length of membership. Members encountering health issues and applying for retired status need to submit a doctor's statement for review.
If your membership expired three years ago or fewer, you can reinstate your membership by paying the reinstatement dues in the ALOA Store. You must create an account if you have not made any previous purchases in the store or if you have forgotten your login and password.
For memberships that expired more than three years ago, you’ll need to print a membership application from the Membership webpage. Fill out the application and submit it along with the appropriate fee to the address or email found on the form.
Go to www.aloatechlink.com. Your username is the email address you have registered with ALOA, and your password is your member number. Contact membership@aloa.org with any questions.
Members can place text-only classified ads in Keynotes free of charge. Email adsales@aloa.org with the text you’d like to use, and include the contact information you want listed in your ad. Ads are placed as-is without editing. Non-members can place classified ads for a small fee.
All classes and events that are open for registration will be listed here. Contact education@aloa.org for assistance.
If you have signed up for a Go Green membership, you will only receive the digital copy of Keynotes. If you’d like to change your membership type so you receive the hard copy or if you need assistance, please contact membership@aloa.org.

Although ALOA is classified as a not-for-profit organization, it still has to pay with credit card service fees. Credit card transactions represent a fairly significant cost for the association. Rather than factor transaction costs into all of our products and services, we ask members who wish to use credit cards to pay the modest processing fee to help keep costs down. Members and customers can still pay by check or by ACH to avoid paying credit card transaction fees.
ALOA is always looking for methods to keep administrative expenses low so we can direct more funds to member programs.
