ALOA Security Professionals Association, Inc. (ALOA SPAI or ALOA, formerly known as the Associated Locksmiths of America) is a U.S.-based member organization for locksmiths and other physical security professionals worldwide. As the largest association of its sort in North America, ALOA — founded in 1955 — focuses on providing hands-on education, certification and networking opportunities for professionals.
Additionally, ALOA has divisions for safe technicians (SAVTA), institutional locksmiths (AIL), investigative locksmiths (IAIL) and automotive locksmiths (IAAL). Through these, security professionals receive specialized training and opportunities focused on their respective areas of expertise.
ALOA’s continuing education (ACE) program holds webinars and hosts classes at the ALOA Training Center (based in Dallas, Texas), at various local and regional locksmith events and at our own conventions: the annual ALOA Convention & Security Expo, the annual SAFETECH Convention, the IAAL Auto Lock Expo, IAIL conference and more. ALOA Education students can participate in our certification program — the Proficiency Registration Program — to earn certifications in specialized areas of the trade.
Through association programs and staff and board support, members of ALOA can benefit from technical advice and legislative information, job referrals, discounts on education and books, and a large network of peer support worldwide.
