In this in-person class, learn the fundamentals of general locksmithing and kickstart your career under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Cost for ALOA/SAVTA Members: $1,495

Cost for Non-members: $1,695

There is also an $80 registration fee.

Students Receive: Kit (yours to keep after class) containing various tools and items essential for hands-on learning.

Course Description

Class Content: 50 % Lecture 50 % Hands-On
7:30 am until 4:30 Daily

The ALOA Continuing Education (ACE) 5-day Basic Locksmithing Course will provide you with basic hands-on knowledge of locks and security-related hardware. Students will work with basic locksmithing tools such as dial calipers, impressioning, pliers, lock pick set, along with other locksmith specialty tools.

Upon completion of this course, you will have the knowledge required to function as an apprentice locksmith who can perform the following tasks:

· Identify and duplicate keys

· Service and adjust key machines

· Rekey a variety of lock cylinders

· Make original keys for a variety of locks

· Code disassembly and impressioning

· Bypass and/or pick common locks

· Troubleshoot and service common cylinder and lockset malfunctions

· Identify common lock hardware finishes and functions

· Become aware of Life Safety Codes and the ADA

· Design and key a simple master key system

· Know combination lock operation and changing methods

Certifications/Designations/Certificates

You can earn one or both of these two designation/certifications by taking and successfully passing the examination offered at the end of class on Friday (expect to receive test results via email within 3 to 4 weeks):

 ALOA Fundamental Locksmithing Designation (AFL)

and/or Certified Licensed Locksmith (CLL) certification  exam if you are in from Louisiana or Alabama. (This exam is required to apply for locksmith license in those states.)

Certificate of Training: Participants will receive a certificate acknowledging the CEU hours completed. Note: This is not a certification.

Dress Code

Feel free to dress comfortably; jeans and work shirts are recommended.

Accommodations

Embassy Suites is an all-suites property. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the complimentary hot breakfast buffet, featuring made-to-order eggs and omelets, along with our evening reception. These amenities are available daily in the atrium.

Lodging Arrangements

Please arrange and confirm your own travel and lodging. Staying at Embassy Suites is preferred but not mandatory. ALOA does not handle hotel bookings.

Transportation

The hotel does not offer a courtesy shuttle; guests are responsible for their own transportation to and from the hotel.

Parking

Complimentary parking is available for ALOA guests.

Dining

The hotel restaurant and bar are closed during lunch but reopen for dinner at 4:00 p.m.

 

Dietary Restrictions

If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please inform Dawne. Lunch options will include sandwiches, barbeque, Mexican cuisine, pizza, and southern homestyle dishes, ensuring everyone is well-fed.

Full refunds will be issued if a class is canceled.
